Special Town Board Meeting

Monday, September 17, 2007

6:30 p.m.

Chairman Dale Beske called the meeting to order.  Others present included Supervisors Shapiro Hurley, Sperle, Lunde and Constable Reilly.

1.  Discussion and necessary action regarding Landfill Site Visit meeting on September 6, 2007 including approval of the minutes of that meeting and Burn Pad License Application.  Unauthorized dumping at the collection center was discussed.  Patrolman Wethal will be advised to get a new lock and set of keys for the gate.  A letter will be sent to Waste Management requesting that someone at the town be contacted if they find the gate unlocked.

Shapiro Hurley moved, Sperle seconded, to approve the minutes of the September 6, 2007 special meeting with the DNR; motion carried.  A copy of the approved minutes will be sent to Steve Small at Strand Associates.

The new application for the burning license was reviewed.  Shapiro Hurley will check with Percy Mather at the DNR to see if a map needs to be submitted with the application.  After consulting an aerial map of the site and surrounding land, it was determined that we will need to get signatures from nine surrounding land owners (within ¼ mile of the landfill property lines) consenting to wood burning at the burn pad.  This is part of the application form.

2.  Work meeting on development of a Town Emergency Disaster Plan.

Grab and Go boxes that would be utilized for damage assessment in the event of a disaster were discussed.

The Emergency Mutual Aid documents will be added to the information already gathered for our Emergency Plan of Operation.

The draft being reviewed (from the Village of Belleville) does not contain all the phone numbers and the CD will be checked to see if they are there.  Other numbers need to be gathered from the various Fire and EMS districts.  Everyone will work on getting names for the local services resource list.

Lunde will check with Dane Co. Emergency Management about emergency numbers there as well as setting up a time for them to assist the Town in putting together a plan.

Sperle moved, Shapiro Hurley 2nd, to adjourn the meeting; motion carried.

Respectfully Submitted,

Dawn George, Clerk
