TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING

Monday, JUNE 18, 2007

6:30 P.M.

 

The Rutland Town Board met at the Graves Cemetery on Thursday, June 18, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of setting the location of a new Jacqueline Burch Harrington garden building at the Graves Cemetery.  Present were Dale Beske, Jim Lunde, Milt Sperle, Dawn George and Don Harrington. 

A site for the garden/tool building was selected in the northeast section of the old cemetery just south of the back driveway.  Harrington advised the board members that the cement slab will now be 6’x10’ with the 6’x4’8” building portion being brick with a fiberglass door and having a cedar shingled roof.  Measurements were taken to determine the specific location.

The tall tree at the northeast corner of the old section of the cemetery was a concern.  The board determined that the following trees in the old section of the cemetery should be taken down soon before they fall during a storm:  the tall tree at the northeast corner, the second and third trees along the fenceline in the southwest section  (brush needs to be cleaned by the 2^nd tree; the third tree will need to be cut close to the ground and the stump will not be able to be ground because of the proximity to an existing gravestone;) the top of a large spruce tree in the middle of the west block appears to be dead and maybe should be removed as well as a dangling limb on the same tree; removal of a dead tree along the north fenceline that is west of the second driveway.

 

It was noted that Don Harrington will carry the insurance during the construction of the building and the town will carry the insurance once the building is complete.

 

Following the meeting at the cemetery, the Board returned to the Town Hall to review and take necessary action regarding approval of Addendum to the Offer to Purchase for additional land for a future Town Hall.  Sperle moved, Lunde seconded to approve the Offer to Purchase as written as of this date (6/18/07); motion carried.

 

Sperle moved, Lunde seconded, to adjourn the special meeting; motion carried.
